10 Random things...

1. 2 weeks is eternity to be off junk food. Yes, even if I'm sick and it's good for me not to eat chips and chocolates and all... it's still eternity.

2. Sun Yan Zi's Wo Yao De Xing Fu has been stuck in my head... playing non-stop as though it's on the repeat function. BUT i don't know the other lyrics so only the chorus has been playing properly... all others has just been "lalalalalala".

3. I wanna learn cello, book binding, take music diploma, read all the books and stuff i've got on my to-read list.

4. I've started my annual Christmas gift making session. It's books this year, like journals and all. Totally handmade. Why so early? What to do... Jon & Jase are flying off for a year. Jan... u wait ok until u come back for Christmas haha.

5. Skirts aren't that big a pain to wear after all. They're quite comfy... airy... and cooling. Hey, air can't really get into the pant legs ok... but they can get into the skirt. Oh. Of course, it comes with Marilyn Monroe skirt-flying moments (i have a penchant for full and/or flowy skirts) so ummm... haha yes that's the serious downside.

6. Girls' outing tomorrow! Suki sushi buffet! I can just hear the sashimi pieces calling my name... ahhhhhhhh... For the record, Suki Sushi has way fresher sashimi than Sakae. And at cheaper prices too. They're more generous as well. Go Suki!!!

7. I'm blogging this now coz' I'm super duper hungry and it's storming outside. Not a good idea to head out now.

8. I'm subsisting on hot water and kinder bueno now. Until we can't tahan anymore and have to brave the rain. It's not even raining cats and dogs. It's raining cheetahs and dobermans.

9. I've had a cup of 3-in-1 coffee everyday for the past 5 days. And this time, it's still making me jittery and giving me slight insomnia even after so many days. Time to switch back to tea. Camomile tea kakis! Wanna join me in camomil-ing?

10. I changed my mind. I'll subsist on hot water and Reese's instead. Yay for peanut butter cups!

Alright, that's it. 10 random thoughts out. That's all for now!

It's official. I'm Asian, Jasmine's American/European, and Jaslyn's well... just greedy. HAHA

How else do you explain an ex-pingpong player winning all Cookie Momma Wii games but losing at all non-food games? HAHAHAHAHA

It's official. Kids and I, we seem to co-exist happily on opposite magnetic poles. Yup, for those of you who remember your science, I'm a kid magnet.

Just take yesterday for example. Church anniversary lunch, so all the kiddos are sitting with their parents. They're at least a couple of tables away, and we were in a hall that could comfortably seat 55 tables. That's about 550 people in the hall. And the kids. haha. They started tilting their head up and down, trying to spot me. And when they did... whoo hoooo... Atalia started making monkey faces at me. Janelle came over and started talking to me. Amanda and Atalia later started playing catch around my table. Yup, around. Jasmine and I were wondering where they got all their energy from - we were getting absolutely dizzy watching them! Then Nicole came and did her infamous "I SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZE". And I think Lemuel dropped by too. Before I knew it... Atalia and Amanda were clambering onto me... putting their faces absolutely close to mine... hahahaa...

And all the other girls at the table? Well, they had their fair share of kid-tention too, but they had to call their names and ask them to come. Me? Well, like the north and south poles of magnets, the kids just came.

So yes, it's official. I'm a kid magnet.

(Side note: to quote Jasmine and Amelia after i said i think i'm a kid magnet... "you think?!")

(Another side note: Janelle and I, we've had wonderfully weird conversations. Here's the one I remember most.)
J: Who's your sister?
M: There, that jie jie there in yellow.
J: Oh. I don't know her.
M: Huh? She teaches you all songs...
J: I still don't know her. Is she older than you?
M: (chuckles) No. She's younger than me.
J: Oh. So how old is she?
M: She's fifteen.
J: Oh. So how old are you?
M: Secret. Haha.
J: Eighteen?
M: Nope!
J: Seventeen?
M: (trying not to die of laughter) Uh-uh.
J: Sixteen?
(by this time, those who could hear were trying so hard not to laugh)
M: Nope. Ok ok I tell you. I'm twenty-five.
J: (eyes grew TERRIBLY big. she's already got big beautiful eyes) Twenty-five?
M: Yup!
Jasmine: Why? you don't believe?
J: Ya I don't believe you.
Jasmine: She's not bluffing you... she's twenty-five...
J: Oh. (Goes silent for a while... mutters to herself) So. You're 10 years older than your sister?
M: Uh-huh!
J: Ok.
Then she got called away by another jie jie to take pictures. So... that's it. Janelle's a wonderful kid to talk to. Tough nut to crack, but just listen to her, and she'll talk.

Psalm 100 (italics mine)

1Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.

2Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

3Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

4Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

5For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

Today's scripture passage... is... what i've chosen to use for next week's choir. And eh. even though i've had tons of previews of the bulletin, i chose the song for next week's choir even before seeing the scripture text!

Anyway, what really struck me about this passage is what we're called to do. We're called to
make..
serve...
come...
know...
enter...
be thankful...
bless...

And why? Because the Lord is good! Because the Lord's steadfast love endures forever! Because the Lord is faithful!

Readers of my blog who're in choir, you have been warned. This is a full spoiler. HAHA.

Anyway, the song I want to teach next week is "All People That On Earth Do Dwell". The tune Old 100th was written for this song, and it's a familiar tune! It's what we used to sing for the Doxology.

Spoiler coming right up!!

"All people that on earth do dwell,
Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice;
Him serve with fear, His praise forth tell,
Come ye before Him and rejoice.

The Lord, ye know, is God indeed;
Without our aid He did us make;
We are His flock, He doth us feed,
And for His sheep He doth us take.

O enter then His gates with praise
Approach with joy His courts unto;
Praise, laud, and bless His name always,
For it is seemly so to do.

For why? The Lord our God is good,
His mercy is forever sure;
His truth at all times firmly stood,
And shall from age to age endure.

To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
The God whom heaven & earth adore,
From earth & from the angel host
Be praise and glory evermore.

Amen."

Today's service was really (i felt) a great example of corporate worship. The songs were God-centred, powerful, spoke volumes. The message was clear, challenging, and thought-provoking. The prayers were heart-felt and not contrived. Was totally convicted today... encouraged to carry on living my Christian life and running the race because the end, the finish line, the goal is a clear and sure thing.

Indeed,

"Tho the way seems straight and narrow,
All I claimed was swept away;
My ambitions plans and wishes,
At my feet in ashes lay.

[Yet] I will praise Him! I will praise Him!
Praise the Lamb for sinners slain.
Give Him glory all ye people
For His blood can wash away each stain."

Even if things don't go the way i plan... i can't get what i want... i don't achieve what i strive for... i will still praise God. And Jesus. through the Holy Spirit.

i don't think you'll ever read this... i don't think you even make your way here to read stuff. not when you've chosen to drop out of my life.

i know u were trying to be sensitive... but seriously. how sensitive is it when you disappear for ages... then reappear that one time to let me know (in a rather self-righteous way may i add) that you're attached? it's not much more sensitive than me being the last person to know. there's no diff. it doesn't affect me any more or any less. yup.

disclaimer: i am not emo-ing. i have moved on. i just need to let it out.
