Thanks for the CD all you! It's really beautiful... the lyrics... so... meaningful... and it's ur fault for making me cry or tear while listening to them. They're just so... real.

Mercies Anew

by Mark Altrogge & Bob Kauflin

Every morning that breaks
There are mercies anew
Every breath that I take
Is your faithfulness proved
And at the end of each day
When my labors are through
I will sing of Your mercies anew

When I’ve fallen and strayed
There were mercies anew
For you sought me in love
And my heart you pursued
In the face of my sin
Lord, You never withdrew
So I sing of Your mercies anew

And Your mercies, they will never end
For ten thousand years they’ll remain
And when this world’s beauty has passed away
Your mercies will be unchanged

And when the storms swirl and rage
There are mercies anew
In affliction and pain
You will carry me through
And at the end of my days
When Your throne fills my view
I will sing of Your mercies anew
I will sing of Your mercies anew

Just when I thought that working meant greater income and thus, a greater ability to more comfortably afford the lavish birthday dinners some friends like to throw… they up the ante. No more going to CafĂ© Cartel or Fish & Co. to have a cozy gathering over reasonably priced food. No more saving up for weeks and blowing quite a bit of my savings on presents and dinners (no wonder I’m so cash-poor). No… we have to upgrade to a more chi-chi place that’s perfectly reflective of the self-proclaimed “I like to spend money”.

Whatever happened to birthdays being about spending the time with friends over good food (at non-exorbitant prices)? Why must dinners and presents cost 10% of my income? Whatever happened to prudent spending?

*sighs*

Not sure why this happening to me at this time of the day and this time of the week and this time of the year. It's not that time... not yet anyway i think. But... I miss all my dearies... I miss going out during breaktime to buy milo beng and teh beng and cheese tofu and all that $2-for-3 dim sum... Not to mention i miss waking up at 9am or 10am and not having to run for the bus... And Mr. Teh's chai & masala tea... and their $1 hotdog... i miss bible studies with my dearies... where else can i get such a strong discussion from people who are of the same mind and same kind of maturity...

There's a very strong familial culture here at work... so i can't say i really miss the collegiate culture... but there's something that's different... it's not that i don't love my colleagues... it's just... i miss all my dearies. gah

Oh this is funny... This is a REAL internal teambuilding thingy... muahahahaaha. Am i glad Providend doesn't do this!

I am so not planning my birthday celebration next year. Pfft. It's so irritating. Let's list why...

- Cafe we want doesn't open on Sundays
- Close friends FORGOT about the celebration and set something else so the date had to change
- Ppl REFUSE to rsvp (hello, i need to make reservations and the cake planners need to know too)
- Ppl can't decide whether to go or not (ok, thanks for telling me a lot about how much i mean to u as a friend. thanks ah.)
- I've got to study for my exams that cost HUGE BUCKS *stress*
- Lioney's got proj work and unco-operative people who refuse to confirm attendance for combined YF

*Hands Lioney a muffin and a candle*
*Sticks a sparkler into my own cupcake*
*we both go to our own corners*
*blow our our own candles*

Happy birthday to us. Yeah. tired of it all.

DENEFESTRATE, UNHAPPY THOUGHTS!!!!!!!!

(Couz, it's ur fault for teaching me the word defenestrate... and it's facebook's fault for allowing u to defenestrate ppl without harm!!!)

Never been the cheerleader,
Never been the shiny pom poms thrown in the sky.
Not once the band major,
Or the silvery mace calling all to attention.
Always along the perimeter,
Along the field.
Unassuming. Shy. Introspective.
Against the sun,
A wallflower.
Why bother?
When there are chores to be done,
Words to be read,
Soil to be tread.

Why bother?
Throw the stick and stones -
They can't hurt,
Not too much at least.

Why bother?
There's no point.
Get used to it.

"How have you been?"
A question so commonly seen.
Words exchanged, laughter rings,
Nothing's changed.

You ask me how I am
But really, you don't give a damn.
Ivory towers, built together,
Guarded forever.

That day rolls around every year,
When German barmaids serve German beer.
But that day's not important.
No siree, watching an act is more pertinent.
So roll on, day of unlucky numbers,
you will not see joy from many members.

"Wassup?"
Coffee's in a mug
Tea's in a dainty cup
Beer's in a jug

Nothing's changed.
