After one super duper restless day at home... i have come to one conclusion: daytime TV programming is just bad... I even channel surfed... and I have cable... Little wonder that Travel and Living Asia is my self-declared favourite channel now. It has Samantha Brown's shows (that I love), certain cooking shows (that I enjoy watching), and interior design shows (dunno what happened to those, they seem to have disappeared).

*sigh*

And thanks to Kevin Teh... everytime i sneeze or blow my nose, i think "muah chee!!!!" And here's what that foodie said "Haha... Now all u need is some grounded peanut and you're fit to enter makansutra. Haha" *bleagh*

I'm resting on the couch now, legs outstretched, with my laptop on my lap, and a nice quenching drink just next to me, not to mention a cushion behind my back. The fan is whirring softly and familiarly even as the TV is blaring. And did I mention that it's 5:19pm on Tuesday now?

Sounds like the life right? I left out some details. I've got a tissue box next to me and lots of expended tissues. The TV is showing glorious pictures of luscious and smooth Japanese desserts and other super duper fresh and rich seafood dishes. Makes it worse because I don't exactly have much appetite now and I'm in sunny weather-changing Singapore.

Bah. Blame it on the ever-changing weather... AND the bug that's been making its way down the line of my office row neighbours. All the ladies in the specialist team have been hit. The guys were like "go go! shoo shoo! bug don't come here! must end at you!" Right... thanks man...

Bleagh.

My colleague and wife made their rounds yesterday coz it's their daughter's 1 month! She's a real sweetie and cutie pie! So adorable! *swoon*

And it's just so cute how her older brother (who's 2) likes to go "emma... emma... emma..." Proud mummy shared that story with us. Older brother wasn't there yesterday, but little Emma was! And here's a picture of the sweetie pie!

Read Jun Jun's blog today... and was reminicising along with her as she blogged about Vietnam. And found this super hilarious! My kor was laughing at it too... to quote him "i find it funny... (at ur expense tho)" then... "i'm laughin more at the guys' reaction".

Ok, so Jun, I'm gonna copy and paste this here aites?

"the vietnamese girls in the hotel told us a little story. on wed night, we walked down the steps to laughter but when we appeared at the common area, the 5 guys there suddenly turned quiet. one of the girls asked if we knew the guys as they were singaporean too. we shook our heads. then she jokingly said, "5 boys. 3 girls. lucky girls."

can't remember what she said exactly.. but smth to that effect. so before we left on friday morning, the girls told us that the 5 guys came in asking if there were any other singaporeans there. they promptly told the guys abt the "3 beautiful singaporean girls". apparantly, the guys were ribbing one another and talking abt how they wanted to meet us. so when they turned quiet when they saw us, the vietnamese girls were tickled. ultra funny la.
"

Haha yeah Jun, I think I remember that moment when the poker card game turned silent. And I think they would have been mortified that 3 Singaporean girls can learn from the Viets and pull on those ponchos too!

Ahahhaa... we have really cheeky and naughty hostesses... they said a couple of times "want to know some Singaporean guys? I think they want to know you" *hilarious*

By the way, we basically ignored those 5 Singaporean guys and went off out in the rain for shopping. Think our hostesses overated us anyway. "3 beautiful Singaporean girls". Hahaha... More likely 2 beautiful Singaporean girls and one average looking one (that's me)!

Dear Xiao Jun Jun, I wished you yesterday already, but as I'm listening to this song now, I'm gonna dedicate it to you. Yes I'm feeling sentimental. Happy birthday my friend.

T H E B I R T H D A Y S O N G

Don't worry about that extra line
That's creeping up upon your face
It's just a part of nature's way to say you've grown a little more
Trees have rings and thicker branches
Kids shoes get a little tighter
Every year we're getting closer to who we're gonna be
It's time to celebrate the story of how you've come to be

Happy Birthday, my friend
Here's to all the years we've shared together
All the fun we've had
You're such a blessing
Such a joy in my life
May the good Lord bless you
And may all your dreams come true

So light a candle on your cake
For every smile you've helped create
For every heart and every soul you've helped to grow
A little more
A few more pounds, a little more grey
Don't count the years, just count the way
It takes a little time to go from water into wine
Don't ever lose the wonder of that child within your eyes

Happy Birthday, my friend
Here's to all the years we've shared together
All the fun we've had
You're such a blessing
Such a joy in my life
May the good Lord bless you
And may all your dreams come true
Mondays at work... are times when I shut myself off from almost everyone else in the company. Actually, the whole i-team does that... research la... Got to digest a whole week's worth of happenings in 1 day (unless we start earlier, but still...)

And this song never fails to bring a smile to my face coz' it's just so cute! Not to mention it kinda perks me up and gets me in the mood for some serious thinking. Erm yes, turning bullies that terrorize into pink poodles is a very interesting thought. And yeah I'm a multi-tasker. Can't think deeply without music. Too much quietness is oppressing... Seriously...

Little Superhero Girl
by Corrine Mae

I feel like a little girl
Trying to conquer the whole wide world
Everybody wants a piece of me
And I just don't know where to turn

I've got work piled up to my head
All I want to do is jump into bed
And wash away my troubles with lemonade

Play hide and seek with the boy next door
Take a trip to Singapore
And imagine how I'll make the world a better place

All I need is a good disguise
One where nobody can recognize
That I'm feeling so small
All I need is a secret weapon
I've gotta have faith
Zapping monsters into outer space
I'm gonna be a Superhero
Na-na-na-na...

If I were a little girl
Trying to clean up the whole wide world
I'd kick the bad boys back to school
Teach them fighting's just not cool

I'd give every kid a teddy bear
Turn starving people into millionaires
Break glass ceilings with dynamite

Sprinkle a little sugar and spice
Turn the bullies that terrorize
Into pink poodles that bark but don't bite

All I need is a good disguise
One where nobody can recognize
That I'm feeling so small
All I need is a secret weapon
I've gotta have faith
Zapping monsters into outer space
I'm gonna be a Superhero
Na-na-na-na...

Little Superhero Girl
Little Superhero Girl
Save me Little Superhero Girl

Little Superhero Girl
Save me from myself
I feel like a little girl
Trying to conquer the whole wide world

Got this off my couz' blog. THESE FIVE SIBLINGS ARE FANTASTIC!!!! I so have to get their CDs... love their rendition of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue! Ok it doesn't help that I quite like Gershwin's works as well... hahaha

Anyway, these 5 Browns are all siblings (yes I've mentioned), and they started playing piano at the age of 3, and all attended the prestigious Julliard school of music (or music school, ah, semantics semantics...). They're good... and they work so well with each other on 5 different Steinways!

Enjoy!

And finally, the long overdue unglam photos from Carl's Jr... Thanks Chen Liping for sending them over! No, I don't know the aiyoyo Chen Liping... this is our very own smucf Bryan Chen Liping aka wan wan aka that furry monkey like thing from starwars aka cf paparazzi.
Tada!!! All our attempts at unglam shots!!!

New word for the day: homophobic

Apparently, this word refers to the "fear of of sameness, monotony or of homosexuality or of becoming homosexual" according to the phobia list.

And this is getting interesting because for all those guys who just cannot stand sleeping on the same bed with another guy (even though it's just for a camp and there's no homo tendencies)... I heard from Weijian that most of the rooms for church camp will have queen sized and king sized beds. Meaning, few rooms with 2 single beds. Very reliable source. He's the camp master... and he's worrying about the sleeping arrangements too! *muffled laughter*

To quote, "you girls have no problems for rooming arrangement... but guys, we have a problem. Lack of single beds. And guys don't like to sleep on the same bed as each other." Then he shuddered.

My sympathies to all my dear brothers who're going for the church camp and who think the same way. Bring a sleeping bag perhaps?

The Tale of Three Shoes

Met up with Jan yesterday, and boy, did we have a fatteningly-piggyful time! We pigged out BIG TIME! Ok, not so big time... coz' there we are, two slim girls (no, Jan is not fat and my butt ain't big) eating like 2 boxes of takopachi and fantastically fattening hokkien mee and orh jian! So anyway, yes, I got my backpack very efficiently, it's a nice black 45L one that's gonna head to Vietnam, JB and Cambodia in the next two months on mine and Jan's backs!

So yes, about the tale of three shoes. For the past year, I've been searching for that elusive plain black heels for work. Now, I've found that comfortable pair that doesn't pinch my toes and that hopefully won't hurt my knees further!

Tada!!!! My new collection of working shoes. Let me tell you the story behind them.

This is colourful patchwork, my very first pair of working heels. Bought it over a year ago, and it fits like a dream. Only prob - see the number of colours? Not good for meeting clients...

So anyway, graduation rolled by, and I had to get me a decent (comfy and fashionable) pair of dark heels to walk that stage. This was the best I could find. Ha! Brownie shoes with velvety brownie rose petals and that gold leaf (don't ask me about the gold leaf). So anyway, this has been my best attempt at formal dark shoes. Right. Not too good... but still less pinching than my other two pointy toes that I shan't even post here, they've pinched my toes so much! hmmmph!

And finally, the newest addition to mousie's shoe family! Simple black heels with roundish toes that look pro and stylish! Yippee!!! After ONE WHOLE YEAR OF SEARCHING, that elusive pair has finally landed before me!!! And yes, Jan, that's why I was so indecisive about the shoes. Ahahahahahaahaha....

Rule of thumb when buying shoes:

1. Charles & Keith is good for cheap shoes I don't intend to wear more than 10 times.

2. URS is good for nicer looking shoes that can last longer.

3. Prettyfit is good for pretty and colourful shoes that fit me snugly.

4. Everbest is good for plain black sometimes stylish working shoes.

5. Crocs' Prima ballet flats look horendous on my feet...

So which is the shoe label I like best? No prizes for guessing... PRETTYFIT!!!! Coz the designs are pretty and colourful and I don't fit into the normal mould of an investment specialist. I like COLOUR!

Made garlic bread from scratch today. Ok, not all the way from scratch as in flour, egg and all for the bread... but the spread was made from scratch. Lessons learnt:

1. Garlic is spicy
2. Tasting a little butter that is not salty does not mean the butter is not salty
3. My oven cannot make bread brown
4. Unbuttered or unoiled bread sticks to grease paper
5. 5 cloves of garlic for 6 slices of bread is too much garlic
6. Olive oil is very oily - think olive oil on side and garlic butter mix on the other...

Hahahaha... so yes... but it was still nice! 'Cept that now my lips are smarting... too much salt... 8th June dinner-at-my-place people, pray that I'll make nice garlic bread that day ok... Coz it's simple and easy to make and I'm making it! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
