In Brit english, my sentence would read: "Mr. Blackbird likes to take a bath in my fountain." But this is Singapore, where colloquial English would do more justic to the scene. The sentence should thus read: "That one iron-teeth mynah always come to splash in my fountain bowl. Then it always make the fountain bowl so dirty. Macham like never clean for weeks."

Yes... a particular mynah has taken a particular likeness to my outdoor fountain bowl. I shall try to put up a picture of that offending intruder soon... Do you know that sometimes my maid will have to resort to placing a plastic bag over the bowl just so the mynah won't dirty the fountain and CLOG it up with the twigs and what not it brings with it? Still, it can be quite therapeutic watching the bird swim around in my fountain bowl. The only problem is that it is a fountain, not a bird bath, so the spout can end up being clogged up. Then... sizzling sounds are emitted from this contraption.

Ah... but enough distractions. Monsieur Smokey, his friends and their escapades are already distracting enough. A very distracting web comic. Now, don't say I didn't warn you. Step in there at your own peril... of not wanting to go back to your books.

I'm out of a job. Yes, my own doing, because I rejected the company. As I blogged earlier, the company has great growth prospects, and my position will have great monetary growth. Thing is, I'm not a salesperson. Marketing, yes, can do. But sales... now that's a toughie. My friends who either are or who have been in sales were a bit shocked to hear that I got a job in sales. To quote them...

J: "You know, I can't really see you in sales. I mean, is sales your long-term goal?"
W: "You? Sales?"

'Nuff said. But for the record, I applied thinking it's customer service. Nooooo... turned out there's lots of sales involved as well. So, since I'm not a salesperson, I thought it's better to back out now than later, when I'd probably have stepped on my boss' toes for not clinching the deals.

Just a few moments ago, I was just wondering if perhaps I should have taken up LSE's offer to study management. I know... it's brand name... but at that time, my logic went like this: LSE is good for econs, LSE is not so known for management, so if I get management, I might as well study in Singapore. That, and I wanted to do economics for a degree. Just thought it'd be more rigourous than business.

And if I consider the job market, a lot of management trainee positions are going to those who come back from overseas. It seems like as long as you come from a brand-name university, you get the job. Call me cynical, but that's the way it works.

But if I hadn't come to SMU, I'd never have gotten to know the people at CF, and never been forced to think about what I really believe. This is to me more important than any job I can get. So yes, I may moan (or even whine) about not getting a job, about not being recognised and all, but really, coming to SMU was worth it. Worth it because being spiritually right with God is just right, and worth more than a brand-name institution can ever give. But then again, that is my humble opinion, and if anyone chooses to take it out of context, you are welcome to do so. I just feel sorry for you because you are not able to read properly.

Decided to do this coz i've just about had it with projects. Actually, all my papers and projects are done already. Hmmm... do i see some lethal objects flying on the horizon at top speed? Hee heee...

Anyway, here's a list of things NOT to do when in a presentation. Got so bored with most of the presentations today that I did this.

Presentation Taboo words
  • actually. Used correctly, it is actually a good word. But if you actually have a better word that will actually bring out the situation better, then you should actually use that word. Get the drift? Oh, and pronounce it well. It’s act-tu-er-ly, and not ac-cher-li.
  • Also. When used, it gives the idea of something happening. Just please say all-sew, and not oh-so.
  • Space fillers: erm… ah… er… ok…

And well, since i've had it with projs... i decided to fill some lists. Claire, yours is way too long... it's too tall an order! So erm, I'm going for Tsu's one... shorter. Just 20 to fill... not like 49 things to fill...

Start: 11.59pm on Friday

Write 20 random facts about yourself/things about you then tag the same amount of people as *minutes* it takes you to write the facts.

1) I had 2 peng kueh for breakfast this morning.

2) Lunch was a family pack from Venezia after the project presentation. Flavours were Tartuffo, Italian Coffee and Yoggi. Deliciously wicked!

3) Got whacked for presentation today, but we hope that's because of the spoil market nature of the presentation.

4) I'm craving some nice not too salted chips. Right now. French fries from Macs will do as well, or curly fries.

5) Can someone get me a waffle? What happened to A&W?

6) I know I'm not making sense, but who can with little sleep and loads of stress?

7) Was supposed to go to the gym today, but my mum backed out at the last minute, so here I am, without any proper exercise time since two or three Saturdays ago.

8) What, this is only number 8?!?!?!!?!?!

9) Someone, please take economics of privatization and competition policy with me!

10) I hope I don't die for corporate finance next term.

11) For that matter, Fixed Income this term as well.

12) I hope I get my good grades to offset Mr. Hercules' C+ a few terms ago.

13) I have something against people named Hercules.

14) Yes, that includes the mythical figure. Too good to be true.

15) The real Hercules I know is greying (whiting actually), and smokes.

16) He gave breaks to go smoke.

17) I think those who smoked with him got better grades.

18) Why am I suddenly so cynical?

19) Georges Simenon is a good author of crime fiction. Read his books! I've got one of it and plan to read more.

20) Anyone wants to rent a book written by the most prolific author of the 20th century?

Finish: 12.05am

6 people to tag back:

1) Claire

2) Jun

3) Sherina

4) Benjy

5) Mag

6) Elaine
