Fur Pedigree

Cat fur
Met two cats on the way home today. The first one, socks, is a lump of fat when she sinks down on the warm concrete floor! But she really loves being patted and stroked, though woe be to the person who goes too close to her tummy. She was quite gentle when i went too close to her tummy though... she just pushed me away with her hind legs. No claws out! Weicheng and i were just happily patting her. The last time Socks allowed Weicheng to pat her when we were together was before we got together! That's a long long time ago!

Anyway, Socks has real soft fur. We call her the tai-tai cat. Enjoys air-con, and lounges around the whole day. Oh, she's called Socks because she's a grey tabby with white paws, just as thought she's got silk stockings on!

The other cat came by my house. It loves my bamboo tree... and yes, cats do eat grass to get fibre. It always comes by my house, jumps up the wall and nibbles at the bamboo tree, after which it'll curl around my main gate round lights. They're warm you see... Anyway, this orange tabby has stiffer fur. So stiff...

So anyway... if we ever get a cat, i want a super soft fur cat!

Bunny fur
2 bunny fur sets: one at art friend, and another in Weicheng's house. Jun and i don't want to imagine if the art friend bunny fur is real... *shiver*

Anyway, Weicheng has two adorably cute bunnies, apple crunch and captain jack. No wait... it's Captain Crunch and Applejack! They're brother and sister, and so adorable! *slain by rabbits* I like it when i pet them and they lick my hand. But back to the fur. Their fur is incredibly soft. Silky smooth fur... ooooo

Here's a picture of the two tots!

Whoever said all Asians look good in black ought to be shot. Or have an extreme eye check-up. Not all Asians look good in black! Black is not my colour. I can look quite dull and lifeless without any makeup on.

So well, if anyone says that all Asians look good in black, they probably fit one of these categories:
1. The European or American retailer who's trying to get rid of the winter collection.
2. The personal groomer who is in cahoots with the above retailers.
3. Someone who blindly follows their advice and doesn't open their eyes to look carefully.

I think we live in a pressure cooker. A pond that is continually being heated up and we, like the frogs in the heated water experiment, are slowly being cooked alive.

Before we moved to the city, food was a simple pleasure at Haven or Ficus. Food fairs would see some revenue directed, but these places still had their stronghold. Then, economical rice cost an affordable $2.40 for 1 meat and 2 vegetables. Now, economical rice costs a whopping $3.50 - $4 for the same combination at Kopitiam in SMU. How's that for extortion?!

Furthermore, just two weeks ago, I was flabbergasted at the cost of 2 siew mai: $1.40. I never paid so much for a measely small dim sum before! Still, I paid. Now, I happily patronize the store, which offers 3 items for $2. I still buy my siew mai, and therein the irony lies. We are geting cooked. We are getting used to the prices and they are burning holes in our pockets.

I'm going to have a simple boycott of the SMU kopitiam and go instead to the other coffeeshops and kopitiams around. Did you know that the kopitiam opposite SIS and SESS sells cheaper food? The food is already cheapter before discount. They offer a discount to SMU students and staff too. What dya know... Our own vendors are cutthroats who wouldn't survive with an office crowd for long.

Even the office stuff generally patronize other stores, not kopitiam. Not even Killiney's at SMU. The irony of it all right? Prices for students? Bah humbug. More like robbers of students. Daylight robbery!

Don't Scatter Roses
Words and music: Larue Lancaster © 1996 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
Lead: Keith Lancaster (The Vocal Union)

Don't scatter roses after I'm gone

A wreath of roses they placed on his grave
And while he was living, there were things that he craved
His life as a pauper was so very dim
He needed the flowers while he could enjoy them

Chorus:
Don't scatter roses after I'm gone
Give them to me, while I carry on
Now I need them to help me along
Don't scatter roses after I'm gone

Many times he was hungry, but you passed him by
He needed your help then, but you didn't try
To help when him needing to carry on
Now you give him flowers after he's gone?

Repeat Chorus (x2)

Don't scatter roses after I'm gone

Scriptural Reference:
"For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.' "They also will answer, `Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'" He will reply, `I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'" Matthew 25:42-45

Am I scattering roses? Are we scattering roses now? The uncomfortable answer is yes. We are scattering roses now...

Interesting site with lots of cool T-shirts! Thanks Jun for telling me about it! I have here some of the t-shirts that caught my eye. Oooooo. *grin*

*Disclaimer: all captions are my own.*

Reese's peanut butter cups! You loved that wonderfully nutty sensation in your mouth. Now enjoy it on your clothes and be warmed by the wonderfully warm orange tones!

[What a copywriter might say?]

This delightfully green wide-neck shirt is both whimsical and edgy. Look closely and you'll see that the guy is really Willy Wonka. It looks so vintage! I like!

Read the T-shirt caption properly.
It's hilarious I tell you...
Oh, you might want to comment on what's wrong
with this shirt. Let's see who can pass their
fractions test! *evil grin*

Oh this shirt is simple. And so true of the procrastinator.

We were accosted very early into the journey. Every 5 steps we took ensured a sheet of paper being pushed into our hands. Papers of different sizes, different folds, different textures, different colours.

Then, we got onto the red carpet and were further accosted! Ok, so it wasn't a real red carpet. It was short poles with red barrier ropes. But we were still accosted!

Jun and I just thought that it was hilarious.

So where is this? NATAS trade fair. It's really an experience to have pamphlets being shoved into your hands. Really. It's nothing short of an experience.

Oh, and we concluded that crowds are zapping... they zap energy. Seriously.

Big Square Cookies
Mag and I made Betty Crocker cookies today. She did most of the mixing once I explained it to her. Did a pretty good job of it as well! Then again, it's a pre-mix. Quite simple mixing. Nevermind, it means my assistant cook is being trained for the next from-the-scratch cookie baking session!

Well, Betty Crocker pre-mix being Betty Crocker... not much could have gone wrong. BUT, Betty Crocker being Betty Crocker meant the cookies were soft. Really really soft! The instructions said to put a rounded teaspoonful of dough onto the tray, 2 inches apart. We stinged on the 2-inch bit... but were faithful with the rounded teaspoonful bit.

The result? Square cookies! Kinda...

Tada!!! the Square-stuck-together cookies. GRIN

Ok! I've decided to add more water, syrup... and change the vodka to sherry. Thanks for all the recommendations! But erm... what kind of sherry would be suitable? Haha... I really don't know my red wines from my whites! Ok, except that they have different colour...

So... what type and where to buy???
