Finally.
The presentation of capital controls is over. CPL told us at the last minute that each of us'd be graded individually... the whole class cried 'kelong' when she wasn't around and then, all persuaded her to grade our group projects as a group.
She listened to us and granted our requests. *ting*
My group got BOMBARDED with a capital B and capital O and so on.... we were asked so many questions! But well, it showed that people were listening because they asked follow up questions like why Malaysia and not Thailand... how long it's take to repay the NPLs we mentioned...
I think we did a-ok for the first presenting group. But i really liked the presentation on India and outsourcing. The models were explained concisely and it was easy to follow, not to mention structured. We knew exactly what we were looking at and where we were heading.
Well, it's over. And i've gotta find more info and explain (in the appendix) why a black market was not apparent in Malaysia according to the criteria we used.

Next time I have apple strudel, it's in a shop...
Whatever it is, the poor strudel shouldn't have to be prepared by me.
Whether baked or even presenting or serving it.
Looky what I did to mine...
I heated it up in the microwave this morning... some apple melted. =p
Then I put it in the freezer... and it froze over. Apple ice cubes in pastry.
Ah but then again, I just might have a career for me in testing the durability of foodstuffs.
Especially cheesecake and apple strudel.
p.s. I heated up a cheesecake too... but that is another dumb story for another time...

Cabaret Dog-Collar
It's amazing how strange fashion can be.
I'm in class now and I can't believe my eyes.
One girl is wearing a low-cut spaghetti top and her assets are practically spilling out.
Her top is quite floral... but in a cabaret style
And her necklace... it looks just like a dog collar!
Emphasizes her assets even more.
Perhaps that's her idea... to enhance the appearance of her flowing out assets.
Well, I think it clashes... cabaret and dog collar buay gum.
Then again, I've never been one for fashion...
Even turned down a chance for a photoshoot for a modelling agency...
Thousands would "die for your luck" as my friend put it.
Well, each to his/her own...

Frailty of Life
A friend smsed me yesterday afternoon, asking me to pray for his friend who'd collapsed while playing frisbee.
Less than an hour later, he smsed, saying his friend had died. His friend is just 3 years older than me.
Before receiving this second sms, I was telling my friends I wanted to take bus so that I could sleep...
But somehow, once i read that sms... all thoughts of sleep fled.
Another friend who got the sms asked me how come I didn't sleep... I looked tired and fatigued all right
Well... This incident made me realise how life is so unpredictable...

For Junz... A Beautiful song to keep u going
LEAN ON ME
When no one cares about me, if I should live or die,
No one bothers asking why I go alone and cry,
Burdens get so heavy that I cannot face the day,
And then I feel His arms around me, and I hear Him gently say:
"Lean on Me, when you have no strength to stand,
When you think you're going under, hold tighter to My hand.
Lean on Me, when your heart begins to bleed,
When you come to the place where I'm all you have,
You'll find I'm all you need."
When the road ahead is rugged and the path is getting steep,
I know that I can't make it, and my heart begins to weep,
Then I turn to see who's coming to join me on the way,
I can see that it's my Savior and I can hear Him gently say:
"Lean on Me, when you have no strength to stand,
When you think you're going under, hold tighter to my hand,
Lean on Me, when your heart begins to bleed,
When you come to the place where I'm all you have,
You'll find I'm all you need."

::Cat Meow Meow::
We're going crazy over the CAT project... finally came up with a model that works! Hooray! If not that'll mean more meetings and more hours burnt on this... but hey, I'd like to think the cinemas can really use our idea but then again, maybe not because of some erm, data collection constraints. Well, it's a nice thought though...
::Over Hokkien Mee, Sotong and Coconuts::
Mum and I had supper last night at AMK. Our family's favourite seafood+hokkien mee store at Ave 4... Little sis decided to stay home so it was just the two of us.
And so the talking started... we started talking about my love life. Alright, we started talking about my lack of a love life. She asked me about Weijian... she overheard me complaining to him about Auntie Lucy Ong thinking we were together and rounding off the conversation with "we cannot la... cannot make it one lor". Groanz... so now that's an extra person suaning me or urging me to think about Weijian as a boyfriend. I'm like .............. Mum......... don't you start too.......
But well, I can understand why she's so stressed... I'm about the oldest cousin on my mum's side... not to mention i'm the older sister so... pressure lorz... My aunties on both mum and dad's side wanna attend more weddings so erm yeah... they're trying to ensure a steady flow of weddings! Hai... The enthusiasm of adults...
Divine...
Anyway, am listening to a new CD i bought today... it's the one advertised on TV and which shows Josh Groban, Sarah Brightman, Russell Watson, Secret Garden... It's pretty ok... and i'm glad i got it instead of the piano ballads one! Ah... a new CD to indulge myself in...
But on another note of divine stuff... Wing and I looked through so many songs but they were either too poppish or did not follow the usual verse-chorus style... which makes it difficult for the congregation to follow... So, we're gonna write our own convention song!
Do pray for us as we right it that we'll write a song that's true and that will glorify God...

Got this in my email... thought it's pretty touching...
It was a busy morning, approximately 8:30 am, when an elderly gentleman, in his 80s, showed up to have sutures
(stitches)removed from his thumb.
He stated that he was in a hurry, as he had an appointment at 9:00 am.
I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would to able to see
him.
I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound.
On examination, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, and got the needed supplies to remove his
sutures and redress his wound.
While taking care of his wound, we began to engage in conversation. I asked him if he had a doctor's appointment this
morning, as he was in such a hurry.
The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife.
I then inquired as to her health.
He told me that she had been there for a while, and that she was a victim of Alzheimer Disease.
As we talked, and I finished dressing his wound, I asked if she would be worried if he was a bit late.
He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now.
I was surprised, and asked him. "And you are still going every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?"
He smiled as he patted my hand and said, "She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is."
I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arm and thought, "That is the kind of love I want in my life." ........
She was one fortunate lady.
True love is neither physical, nor romantic. True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be and will not be.

Parliament
Some women MPs were pushing for NS to be made compulsory for everyone regardless of gender. I shan't give my comments on that... conversial topic.
But well, Ms. Mathi, Dr. Jennifer Lee and one more lady are apparently either not very convinced of their points or are ill-prepared.
The last lady I mentioned... she looked at her script, and up for 2 seconds, then down again... and it was as though she was just regurgitating a text-book answer.
Dr. Jennifer Lee kept on looking down every other second... and Ms. Mathi just read straight from her script.
Ok ladies, we've all heard all these discussions and points before... so it's going to take more than the arguments to make people sit up and listen. You gotta really have passion about the topic and speak with passion.
Mr. Lim Swee Say, environmental minister, spoke after that. He looked down at his script only occassionally, and poke with such gusto and passion about his subject. It was a real 180 degree change!
But well, I wonder if the constitution will ever be passed. Ah well... and I'll always be left wondering if the women in power are just paying lip service to feminism while they subscribe to a warped version of feminism... or are they really truly feministic. Only time can tell...

'Shrooms Ahead!
Picture this scene. A guy walks to a parquet in the heart of the office crowd and sets himself down near Raffles MRT. He then proceeds to tear a hole in a piece of newspaper and puts it over his head.
The girls to his right are giggling at him. But does he care? No! He just concentrates on biting into his burger... and sploosh, some gravy splooshes onto his newspaper...
And I had the opportunity to try that burger today. Well, it definitely ain't very filling coz I just had it at around 9pm and am hungry already. But the taste is unique! Mushrooms (love 'em!) with chicken patty and some gravy. Mmmmmm
I think all mushroom lovers out there should try the set meal.. it's only $2.95! But well, for big eaters like me... upgrade the whipped potato to cheese fries... it's more filling!

Pitter Patter
It's been raining the whole day. Unbelievable.
Well, this mouse's been holed up the whole day. No tennis, no venturing out for class even. Anyway, the mouse is gasping for breath again.
And the rain is perfect for sleeping in... it's so cooling too!
Anyway, I'll miss the rain once the hot scorching sun makes its appearance again.
But for now, I miss the sunny skies and white fluffy clouds coupled with fresh breezes. Mmmmm... like to enjoy this on my walk through Botanical Gardens when i go to school.
Another walk beckons tomorrow... so i hope i can enjoy the sights and smells!
By the way, botanical gardens has some really pretty yellow flowers hanging side by side some succulent green fruit. Pity the gardeners hacked them off to neaten the tree.
Well, hope i catch some sights of Kingfishers or Orioles or Eagles again!

What Maketh A Good Singer?
A good singer projecteth the voice well.
A good singer doth not shout, neither doth he yell the song.
A good singer bringeth forth all the emotions in the song.
A good singer hast good expressions.
A good singer singeth songs that he can sing well.
A good singer giveth goosebumps to listeners.

The Family of God
by Bill and Gloria Gaither
I'm so glad I'm a part of the family of God.
I've been washed in the fountain,
Cleansed by His blood.
Joint heirs with Jesus, as we travel this sod,
For I'm part of the family,
The family of God.
You will notice we say brother, and sister 'round here.
It's because we're a family, and these folks are so near.
When one has a heartache, we all share the tears,
And rejoice in each victory, in this family so dear.
I'm so glad I'm a part of the family of God.
I've been washed in the fountain,
Cleansed by His blood.
Joint heirs with Jesus, as we travel this sod,
For I'm part of the family,
The family of God.
From the door of an orphanage, to the house of the king,
No longer an outcast, a new song I sing.
From rags unto riches, from the weak to the strong,
I'm not worthy to be here, but praise God I belong.
I'm so glad I'm a part of the family of God.
I've been washed in the fountain,
Cleansed by His blood.
Joint heirs with Jesus, as we travel this sod,
For I'm part of the family,
The family of God.
Really meaningful song based on Ephesians 314b-15...
Listen to it here (for a more upbeat version) or
here (for a slower, more steady version)!

My Elephant Lost Weight
Yup, that's right, the elephant that resides on my head and swallows up all my stress just lost some weight. IE presentation has been pushed back to week 13! That's great! But... that's 2 presentations back to back... furthermore, i'm going to a chalet on the weekend of week 12... just a little celebration for two close friends...
But well, though that little elephant is gonna gain weight again later... i'll revel in its light weight now.
Oh yes, am quite happy with IE mid-term exam results... really didn't expect such results. Thought i'd fail! But no one failed. And... God's really gracious. He gave me much higher than pass. Think my little elephant is going pink with joy... it just might get out a parasol and start dancing on my head. =)
Fantabulous Whip Cream!
Went to town with Cassie yesterday and chanced upon this... Tropical Sugar Cane Body Whip from tns (the natural source). It's an antioxidant body moiusturizer that will leave your skin fresh and sweet smelling.
Well, it worked almost immediately. Skin was much softer upon application and the smell... mmmm the smell is just delicious! Kept on sniffing it. I like this smell even better than Happy for Men.
And this whip comes in a cute little tub with a clasp. I just like the way it opens and closes... and the smell too...
Probably get either this or a pair of black sandals for Mum for her b-dae...
I think I'll get this. After all, there's a 20% discount for the month of march!
