Flabbergasted
Yes, that's what's describing my feeling now.
Was researching for an ethics paper, and lo and behold... I stumbled across a site claiming that the Bible speaks of homosexual relationships between Ruth and Naomi, David and Jonathan, and Daniel and Azphanez.
I'm flabbergasted... Ruth and Naomi were mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. With both their husbands dead and having to travel a long journey back to Naomi's home wouldn't these two women be close? But ahem, close does not mean sexual relationship. And oh yes... the author said that Ruth clave to Naomi, and clave is the past tense of cleave. Pray tell then, how did Abraham clave wood (Gensis 22:3) or the ground "clave asunder" in Numbers 16:31? Surely the Bible cannot be talking about having sexual relationships with inanimate objects... that's contradictory!
Seriously, clave just means to draw near to...
But then again, can understand why this site is making such claims.
It is proposing that certain religious texts contradict themselves. And these religious texts is actually this religious text: the Bible.
Well, all I can say is, friend, you gotta read properly. Please open your eyes, read in context and well, understand what the author is really saying, not what you think the author is saying.
And yes, the fact that it's almost always that the Christian Bible is lambasted is no coincidence. Could it be that someone out there doesn't want people to know the truth? And so he persuades people to lambast the Bible...

Where?
My cousin saw my family portrait... and promptly asked where I was. Then she asked where my sister was.
Ok, my cousin's a young kid, about 6 years old... and the portrait is 10 years old!
How old I was then is about how old my sis is now. Little wonder she couldn't recognise us...
That makes me feel old. Time really flies... it's been 10 years!
And... what have I made of my life? How have I been living my life?
I don't think I'd score well on any scorecard of any type... especially not a heavenly one.
But I made a resolution lately. To live a Christ-centred life, and to life and make choices in a way that furthers the gospel the most.
That's the least I can do... and that's the least I should have been doing all these years and failed to do.
Have found the key to my common bouts depression: focus on God, Jesus, and his work on the cross.
I have to always remember that I live today because God allows it, and because He has a purpose for it.
I have to remember Jesus' agonizing death on the cross and His wondrous rising 3 days later. That's the basis of my Salvation.
I have to cling on to the second coming of Jesus, for that is when I'll be in heaven with him, where there'll be no more tears and no more pain. That's my hope, the thing I look forward to.
So this is a late resolution... but if there's somemore of my life to dedicate to Christ, why not?

Eagle or Chicken?
Just dug up the notes I took during Rev. Simon Nagarajan's message based on Isaiah 40:29-31...
Eagles control air space for about 1 km radiu. Chickens.... don't like to be out of the majority, always fight and don't know how to share, and always squabble, fight and look to the ground.
If we wait on God, we will be like eagles, not chickens. Isaiah 40:29-31 tells us that it's for anyone and everyone who wais on God.
How to soar like an eagle? That's the question to answer
God gives, increases and renews through power and strength.
Eagle Category: walk, run, mount (take off)
Chicken Category: Faint, weary, fall, powerless
How to get out of C Category and get into E Category?
Ans: Wait upon the Lord. This doesn't mean no action. It means to ask, look for, depend on God, have patience, call upon God, serve God, believe in God as your Lord and Saviour, trust in Him, meditate on His Word, listen to His Word and rely on Him.
God never meant us to have 'chicken' syndrome. So when we have God in front of us, the problem is behind us. When the problem is in front of us, God will be behind us.
Conclusion: God wants us to be eagles, not chickens. So, we must wait upon the Lord!

Don't bat an eyelid
I jogged today. Yes, the lazy piggy who wouldn't deign to get off her feet jogged. Something must have possessed me to get my fat butt off the chair and start running!
And hey, i managed to run almost the full round of botanical gardens around school ok... Not too much, but quite a great feat for someone whose last long run was 3 years ago! And thing is, no freak accident today!
Yup, i'm just a magnet for freak falls and sprains... partly why i wasn't too active. Didn't wanna sprain my already arthritic two ankles... but... it was God's Will and plan that i could run today! It was a great time spent together with a dear sis from school.
And know what? We're gonna run again. Next week. And the week after next. And... i think i should go do some crunches soon... the flab's showing... and i don't want to spend more money revamping my wardrobe: something i've been doing since i got out of JC. No siree! Gonna keep to my size and not expand too much!

WhooHooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No more presentations nor tests for this mid-term! I could sing, sing, SING! But well, there was a price to pay for this ultimate relax feeling.
First, last week. Crammed with preparation... Coupled with depression, i just didn't want to do anything.
Then, Sat. V-day, but still lugged the book around just in case i had time inbetween things to read some bits... then had to lug the book home fast b4 mum went home. Of course, i was so stressed i forgot my ez-link card and so couldn't help my dad buy my mum flowers coz i needed every single coin to get home.
Now, Sun. Sang for choir, played for second service. Then, rushed down to sch for proj. Madness... Went home and mugged all the way...
Mon morning. Interesting things started... i skipped class to finish my nego journal. Crap i say... it's crap! Then went down to sch for nego presentation. Stayed back to prepare for ethics debate. Went home and studied more for exam...
Tues morning. That's today. EXAM! Stress ah.. sweat... the questions were tough! Chang Pao-li's known for her tough papers... sweat sweat... After that, prepare for ethics debate.
Now, it's OVER! And i can kick back and relax! Ahhhhhhhhhhh

My Future
"You should consider being a news broadcaster. Your voice is really nice!"
"Wow, you really commanded authority just now. There's just something in your voice... I felt there was some weakness in the argument, but you sounded so logical. What you say, people will believe it."
I'm like.... wow. I never knew my voice was like that... sure, I noticed that during presentations, people who usually didn't listen tended to listen.
Maybe it's my so-called 'teacher' voice...
Maybe it's just me...
I know another few friends told me if I'd run for SA, almost everyone they knew would've voted me in because I look like the kinda who can do things...
Well, I guess my voice really talks. Literally.
So that narrows my job choice down... Journalist or Teacher.
Unless there's such a thing called professional presenter? Yah i sure wouldn't mind that!

V-Day Eve...
More flowers around... The guys in my biz law class combined to buy a whole lot of hearts with red sprinkles. It really looks pretty! They gave them to all the freshie girls and the prof. So yups, i didn't get my red heart, but well, one of them kinda hesitated between giving the heart to me or to the freshie sitting next to me. Well, thanx for the thought pal! It was really sweet of all the guys who bought the hearts!
Well, another friend offered to sponsor me for dinner tomorrow... he offered to pay for me to have dinner with another friend... quoting him, "hey, you have dinner with Ben tomorrow la. I'll sponsor you two, just go accompany him la." I rolled my eyes (a.k.a. Cherie-rolling-her-eyes) and said he was siao. Hai... the crazy things that people do on V-day eve.
Also, an observation my mum, tsu, cass and i made. Suddenly, lots of small boys (anyone younger than me is a small boy :-)) in gift shops looking at soft toys and holding flowers. Muahahaha... the only time of the year you get to see a mass of masculinity embracing 'feminity'.
Oh yes, another thing. Not so nice though... Couples like to cuddle... ran into this raffles-tortoise on the bus today and his spineless jellyfish girlfriend. They stood at the exit of a really crowded bus... cuddling and talking. And Ms. Jellyfish was practically always 'falling into his arms' whenever the bus moved off. So Mr. Tortoise's shell kept banging into me. No joke on a crowded bus k... and jellyfish and tortoise hogged the exit. Me with my humongous bag couldn't squeeze past them so some others had to squeeze past. Then they made way and I could move in... and Mr. Tortoise and Ms. Jellyfish make a perfect couple. Perfectly oblivious to the world around them, and fully unaware that people want to get on the bus.

How To Know It's Approaching Valentine's Day
1. Strings of red hearts and fluffy cut-out angels suddenly appear all around uni... from the corridors to the lifts.
2. Enterprising LTB groups start selling things that revolve around the colours red and pink.
3. Uni starts looking like a florist or a gift shop
4. People who usually don't say hi to you suddenly recognise you and flash their megawatt smile at you, hoping you'd give them 'face' and buy their wares... which are probably cheaper than those sold on V-Day itself.
5. Roses (real or fake), and balloons peep out from bags and hands
6. Suggestive advertisements like "Please her this Valentine's Day. Get a rubber." appear in the lifts and toilets... Btw, the rubber refers to balloons... what were you thinking?!
7. Crazy notions arise like buying a whole bucket of roses for $30 and giving the roses to everyone else in CF! (p.s. it didn't materialize... but the idea was there and he haggled!)
8. People run around singing song dedications
9. Big sheets of paper with pens are put up around school for the denizens to scrawl their love
10. Guys start giving girls roses that were given to them by some other well-meaning guy or gal-friend. They plead and beg all the girls around them to take the roses... they plead till their red in the face, all so they can keep their image of 'manliness'.
Created by the Mouse who's a bit overwhelmed by it all, and who got a pink rose. Well, we all got roses! :-)
~~~~~~~~~~~~
p.s. Anymore pink roses or orange gerberas coming this way? Heh...
Bacteria-Free Water Container
Well, this sticker is good publicity... especially after the scientists published reports about harmful bacteria living in plastic bottles and all that stuff. So... here's the sticker... Found it quite funny, so am replicating it here!
Quoting...
'Bio Tank Magic' is made of PE and PP and contains bio ceramic and silver-stream antibiotics. The product as earned the SF(sanitary finished) mark from the Korea Consumer Science Research Center run by Korean government. Using the 'Bio Green' catalyst, Bio Tank Magic eliminates 99% of the formation and reproduction of all types of bacteria including colitis germs, bacteria, mold, moss, 0-157, vibrio, salmonella, etc. It also transforms the water into a light alkaline form to increase oxygen content and provide abundant hexagonal water molecules.
Unquote...
No wonder the water in that bottle has a slight strange taste... haha. Like alkali!
Ripped this test off from Cindy's site. And yes, after trying countless times, I'm still the Sonnet. Well, issit true? I'd say yeah, but not complete... Anyway, we can't expect these general tests to be accurate to the T! So.... read on! And if you want to take it, just go here.
The Sonnet
Deliberate Gentle Love Dreamer (DGLDf)
Romantic, hopeful, and composed. You are the Sonnet. Get it? Composed?
Sonnets want Love and have high ideals about it. They're conscientious people, caring & careful. You yourself have deep convictions, and you devote a lot of thought to romance and what it should be. This will frighten away most potential mates, but that's okay, because you're very choosy with your affections anyway. You'd absolutely refuse to date someone dumber than you, for instance.
Lovers who share your idealized perspective, or who are at least willing to totally throw themselves into a relationship, will be very, very happy with you. And you with them. You're already selfless and compassionate, and with the right partner, there's no doubt you can be sensual, even adventurously so.
You probably have lots of female friends, and they have a special soft spot for you. Babies do, too, at the tippy-top of their baby skulls.
ALWAYS AVOID: The 5-Night Stand, The False Messiah, The Hornivore, The Last Man on Earth
CONSIDER: The Loverboy
Just Some UPdates...
Well, the Mouse Guitar Fund is officially closed. Of course, unless some other kind soul out there decides to donate enough for the mouse to upgrade to another guitar. But I'm perfectly happy with my current guitar. Pretty nice and warm resonations... But i need to get a pick... fast... nicer to play with!
Decided to go for church camp this year and not for internship. In light of what's happened so far, i think this year's church camp is even more crucial... Well, that and I was too lazy to go revamp my resume heh. But I'm not graduating so soon, so there's still time to go look for an internship and do one. Perhaps I'll take time off a term and go do an internship... probably won't be attempting an honour's thesis at this rate.
And i'm trying to get the order of stepping on the clutch, brake and accelerator into my head... advanced theory test is in let's see... less than 4 hours time and i've just finished reading the book twice over! Hmmm... i think i really need a miracle and lotsa common sense to pass!
And oh yes kor, think you should go start building that shelf... Make it a nice big and comfy one so i can settle down on it with a whole lot of cushions and all k? Afterall, i think the shelf's gonna be my 'home' for the rest of my life. yeah...
Oh yes, before i end off my update, just something for all guys. Pls, pls, pls do NOT pee while talking on the phone... It's disgusting and unhygienic. And you betcha the person on the other can hear you loud and clear. Crystal clear in fact. To reiterate that, it's DISGUSTING and puke-inducing!
